“Ongoing initiatives by the government to improve the ICT infrastructure via plans like the Economic Transformation Programme and Digital Malaysia, are also expected to spur ICT spending this year, as will the expected increase in cloud computing adoption and the rollout of the 4G long-term evolution (LTE) telecommunication network.
“IDC has also identified business process outsourcing (BPO), systems integration and IT consulting as key growth areas in 2013 and these initiatives bode well for companies like Privasia,” he said.
Puvanesan said the company's three principal business activities, namely ICT outsourcing, BPO, and proprietary e-Bidding and e-Procurement spend management platforms have allowed the company to provide services to a wide variety of clients, ranging from fast moving consumer goods players and logistics firms to telecommunication operators and the financial services providers.
“Having such a diversified mix has allowed the company to garner valuable experience and technical proficiencies in a variety of industries.
“ICT outsourcing has still much potential for growth both here and abroad, and as the adoption of technology gains pace, as companies expand and look at BPO providers to handle their non-core functions, and as corporations look to enhance customer service, having the skills and expertise that Privasia has will put us in good stead,” he said.
He said according to market research firm IDC, Malaysia spent an estimated RM24.9 billion last year on ICT spending while another research house, Gartner, predicts this figure at a much higher RM31.5 billion. Whichever is the more correct estimation, such investments include the funding for the ICT infrastructure needed to support such a rollout.
